The AIMS->SIMS Converter application can be used to copy messages from the MailShare/AIMS/EIMS (referred to as AIMS below) mailboxes to SIMS user accounts.
Step 1. All SIMS accounts should be already created before you start the Converter application. You may want to use the MailShare Loader application to retrieve account information from the AIMS server data, and then use the SIMS Loader application to create those accounts with the SIMS server.
Step 2. Find the "Mail Folder" inside the System Folder on the server machine. This folder contains files for all AIMS mailboxes (and some additional files). Copy the entire "Mail Folder" to the folder where the "AIMS->SIMS Converter" application resides.
Step 3. If the SIMS application is running, quit it now.
Step 4. Launch the AIMS->SIMS Converter application.
The application processes all files in the "Mail Folder" located in the same folder as the application itself. It retrieves all messages from the each mailbox file and adds those message to the SIMS account file with the same name (the messages are converted to the Un*x format used for SIMS mailboxes).
a) If an entire mailbox file has been processed correctly, the mailbox file is moved from "Mail Folder" to the Trash.
b) If an error occurred when copying messages, the SIMS account is returned to its original state.
This method allows you to check the files left in the copy of the Mail Folder and (probably) to launch the Converter again.
The converter reads entire messages into memory (into its own memory, or into free MacOS memory) when copying them to SIMS accounts. So, it can fail when copying mailboxes with very long messages. You may want to allow the Converter to continue, and when it finishes, you should quit other applications and launch the Converter again: it will retry to process the mailboxes left in the copy of Mail Folder.
